Poor little lady, amazing to see you shot this, I also shot this once, but just the nymph

They use the long proboscis to inject a lethal saliva that liquefies the insides of the prey, which are then sucked out. The legs of some of these bugs are covered in tiny hairs that serve to make them sticky to hold onto their prey while they feed.

Mayb got season wan. Sometimes there are alot along this trail. This one I took is about 15mm big.

Thanks mark ! ya agree, it's a nice & quiet place for macros.... quite alot of happenings there. furthermore it's not that far from my house. next time can arrange to go shoot macros there.....

Thanks Jordan, for all the comments and the detailed description of this insect. I didnt notice it had a proboscis that had pierced thru that poor lady until I viewed it from my pc screen as this insect is not that big.

Dont think its the same leh...yours got spike on its back and doesnt seems to have wings. The one i took had wings and flies....mayb same family type.... hehe

This guy seems to b resting on the stalk cleansing itself that allows me to get close to shoot otherwise its not easy as its always on the fly ...

it's not that difficult to find one at this place actually. i've seen red ones before but just too small to capture them. looks like the yellow ones are more common and bigger in size also....

Nope..its not in msia. It's a nature reserve in Singapore. If got chance, i bring you there next time :)

Dont really know the actual name for this spider....this was shot from the rear view of the spider, the head is at the opposite end. The rear view seems to scare off other insects :)
